Minimalist sculptor Fred Sandback’s works consists of vertical string scultures that look like they’re missing parts. He stretched yarn horizontally, vertically, or diagonally at different scales and in varied configurations. The yarn is help up without any visible hooks or taping.

In the true spirit of Minimalist art, the sculptures use basic geometric shapes as outlines. These “empty” sculptures ask the viewer’s brain to perceive the rest of the form. In describing his work he stated, “It’s a consequence of wanting the volume of sculpture without the opaque mass that I have the lines.” and “I did have a strong gut feeling from the beginning though, and that was wanting to be able to make sculpture that didn’t have an inside.”

Fred Sandback committed suicide in his studio at the age of 59 in 2003.

These vivid snapshots of fresh treats for your taste buds were taken at the home of Japanese shop owner and fashionista Baby Mary. We love that a fashionista is proudly displaying food, some of it fattening, in her home. After all, one of the greatest pleasures in life (besides fashion, and Eighteenth tops) is enjoying the flavor of a fresh sweet strawberry or a tangy pomegranate, or even the spongy sugar layers of a pound cake!

Rock and Roll Ain’t Dead

This is new model Ashley Smith, who is signed to Trump Management, in a spread for RUSSH Magazine. Her blonder hair, blue eyes and milky white skin makes her look very typical, but when she beams a smile at you, her adorable gap-toothed grin reveals her atypical appeal. She has just the right amounts of attitude and charm, we predict she’ll be the one to watch.

Should Eighteenth look for a gap-toothed model? Do you think this will be a trend?
